7-7-7: It’s Your Lucky Day, Punk!

7 Things You can do today to celebrate 7-7-7

1. Tell 7 people who you admire that you admire them and why.

2. Buy 1 Pick 3 Lottery ticket (if you’re old enough) for the numbers 777.

3. Read Harry Potter 3 because you’re trying to finish the first six books before Harry Potter 7 comes out July 21st.

4. Bake a 7-themed cake (revolving around the theme of 7 somehow).

5. Throw a 7-7-7 picnic/party/event.

6. Make a 7-spice dinner of some kind.

7. Spontaneously find a way to incorporate 7 into something you do today. Make it fun, like a 7th-movie marathon (Halloween 7, Friday the 13th 7, Jason 7), or watch 7 episodes/hours of something you might have on DVD – 227 or Seventh Heaven for example — or go to 7 places you’ve never been before (even driving down a different street you’ve never been to to get somewhere counts).

This is a test. This is only a test.

So a lot of you find my site via StumbleUpon and I wanted to send a special thanks to SU and all of my visitors, for without you I would be nothing. :)   Not really, but this blog would be more like a diary than a blog.

Thank you all and I hope you truly have a terrific time reading not only my Stumbles but my site.  I enjoy writing so much and hope that things can be learned.  I’ve taken a bit of an off-course turn in my writing as of late, but isn’t that what a blog is for?  For writing.  More financial funnies and lessons coming your way soon, I assure you!

Have a great day!

Happy 4th of July to all my visitors!  I truly wish you a blast of an evening!

I’ve had to work today, but thankfully, work is over and I hope hope hope that the rain will subside in time for the celebration.  I have a my new camera, a Nikon D40x, and want to put it to good use so I can post some wonderful pictures of amazing fireworks for all to enjoy. Well wishes from this beach bum on Independence Day (or, as my sister put it, “I Wish We Weren’t Independent Day”, which included Scones, Tea, and British Movies — My sis is the greatest)!

*KABOOM*  GOOD NEWS!  The rain has stopped!!!

Transformers: I <3 Optimus Prime!
July 3, 2007 | Filed in: mission chronicles

Optimus Prime!!

We saw Transformers last night at the Special Prescreen event and I must say, I was absolutely blown away. I wish I could provide you with screenshots or something of what I definitely feel will be THE blockbuster of the summer, if not the year. (Yes, this is completely off-topic when it comes to money, and will end up costing me more because I am going to see this movie again in the theaters at least one more time!)

Between the story, acting, action, and ridiculously AMAZING digital effects, this movie was even more than I imagined it could be. Brilliantly written to include drama, comedy, action, romance, and more, I remained absolutely enthralled in the story while enjoying the visual insanity. Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are on fire. (I still hold on to my opinion that Shia is a force to be reckoned with.)

For those of you who are die-hard, must-stick-exactly-to-every-aspect-of-the-story, original Transformers fans, you’re bound to find something you don’t like about this movie, but I assure you, watch it anyway. Everything else will make up for those little things ten-fold. (It’s so hilarious watching Transformers try to HIDE, and a bit of revenge on Sector Seven? Oh no!!! I didn’t think I’d laugh so hard!)

The person who took on Transformers ran a huge risk of just not doing it justice, but man oh man, did that NOT happen here. Michael Bay, the digital artists, the actors, and the writers did a fabulous job of capturing all that is Transformers (and so much more).

Big A+ to this one, especially for Shia’s more than spectacular performance!

Zmombies on the Horizon and Sharks in the Swimming Pool
July 2, 2007 | Filed in: mission chronicles

It’s Monday morning, Zmombie morning, the morning we all roll out of bed and into our cups of coffee or orange juice, ready for another week of work, school, whatever the obligation may be.   Those of you who work Tuesday through Saturday, Tuesday is your Monday, and so on…  Regardless, we all have that one day, that one morning, where all we want to do is pull the covers back over our heads and dream some more about zombies on the horizon, sharks in the swimming pool, tornadoes surrounding us but doing harm to none, something more adventurous than what awaits us when we zmombie our way into the office or classroom.

So the real question is this:  Why don’t more of us work more adventurous jobs?  “It doesn’t pay the bills.”  “Nobody will hire me.”  “I don’t have the experience.”

Here’s my answer and is advice I am trying to follow:  Make it an extra part-time job, a hobby, create a profession, hire yourself!!  Do these things and you’ll not only escape the humdrum obligations, you’ll make extra money to pay your bills, you won’t have to worry about anyone else hiring you, and you’ll have the experience to someday go out there and be the best.

My passion:  photography.
My level of expertise:  beginner.
My interest level:  Through the roof.

I want to create, I want to transform, I want to be surrounded by creativity, I want to have fun.  I want more than to zmombie out of bed Monday morning into my cup of coffee and out the door.  Don’t you?

Think about it!

The Day the Lights Went Out On My Vegas
July 1, 2007 | Filed in: mission chronicles

It’s Sunday afternoon and altough Vegas was possible for a brief second, the definitive verdict on the trip for me is a no. I don’t have the money, I don’t want to borrow the money. (I’m trying to save money so to go negative just to go to Vegas is out, no matter how soon I’d be able to pay it back after the fact.) That’s okay, I’ll find something to do and hope my boyfriend has a great time in Viva Las Vegas!

Today is a lazy day, and we’ve spent time this weekend trying to find something spontaneous but inexpensive to do, only to find that that’s not the most possible thing in Boca Raton or anywhere in South Florida for that matter. (If any of you know of any really great places for spontaneous combustion, er, I mean activities, please leave a comment!)

Yesterday, we went to the a lunch place we’ve never been to before which didn’t turn out to be so inexpensive, but the food was good, so we’ll cut out the tiny (but tasty) appetizer next time and definitely go back. After that, we went to the mall where my boyfriend bought me two shirts that were on sale (Sales = GREAT ways to save money), two shirts that would have otherwise cost $50 instead cost $30, so that was a great deal.

Finally, last evening, we went to this nice local “park” and sat and had coffee and people and dog-watched. Sitting down to a cup of coffee and good conversation in a public place is a good way to save money as well. People-watching is free entertainment — especially in a place like Boca– and if you’re lucky, you’ll find a place where you can sit and enjoy entertainment such as concerts or Art events for free as well. (This park often has concerts that many come to listen to for free in the park — basically, seats with a view of the show cost and general admission to listen but not see is free).

Today, we went to Sunday breakfast (at 2pm) and then went to grab breakfast stuff for the week at Whole Foods. It costs as much as boxes of cereal, lasts as long, and is MUCH healthier (no preservatives, all-natural). We just got back from getting cat litter (For those of you who have a Petco around, get their cat litter. The pebbles are smaller and it holds in the smell much better and longer than your everyday store or national brands do — trust me, this I know because we had to switch to a national brand due to running out of the Petco brand and P-U was it bad!) and now we’re going to finish watching George and the Dragon, then return it and grab dinner.

See you tomorrow with more entertaining adventures and thoughts to report on!
